In 2003, our family experienced the deepest tragedy when the plane that our family members were flying…simply vanished from radar. We spent 10 days searching 90 square miles in Flagstaff, AZ, before a lone hiker came across the crash wreckage. Our earnest and prayerful hopes that Pastor Monty, his wife Susan, his 19-year-old son Jake and girlfriend Lendon, had survived, were replaced with a grief no one should have to experience. What we learned during those 10 days, was that it doesn’t matter who you are, what you have, or who you know; during a time of tragedy, the strangers who reach out with food, help and prayer, are priceless. We hope to do the same for families also in the midst of tragedy. We have been involved in many search and rescue operations through financial, emotional and/or logistical support. Our foundation also honors the values and causes that were important to Monty.
Both Monty and Susan were Air Force Veterans who served their country faithfully, and continued serving their community as pastors of Cowboy Church of the American West. They both had a heart for the Lord, and a heart for people. During the Iraq War, the Military Hero Award honored a member of our armed forces whose combat injuries created an unexpected life challenge. We also had the privilege of spending holidays sitting with patients recovering from amputations at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego.
In 2017, a high school senior from Monty’s alma mater, Trinity High School (Trinity, TX) will be chosen as the first recipient of the $2,000 Monty Price Foundation Scholarship. The deadline for this Application is May 10, 2017.
This foundation was created by Monty’s older sister, Kathy Price-Sampson and her husband Greg.
